Vanguard Properties and Berda family support MNAC

The MNAC (The Chiado National Museum of Contemporary Art), one of the most prestigious institutions in the field of art in Portugal, is the latest recipient of the most recent sponsorship from Vanguard Properties and the Berda family.

In line with the real estate developer’s position and values and reflected in its motto ‘Inspired by art, designed for living’, this contribution forms part of an initiative that aims to give the MNAC greater public exposure at a time when this important museum commemorates its 110th anniversary.

The project consists of painting the entire façade of the building on Rua Capelo (former Governo Civil) in sky blue in what had been the original colour for this early 20th-century building.

This new look will be accompanied by artwork from Pires Vieira, a renowned name on the national artistic landscape, with his works in the museum’s collection. The artist has executed a series of paintings that will be placed in the windows of the MNAC, within illuminated acrylic frames, which will temporarily lend a surprisingly contemporary look to the building’s façades and this historic part of the city.

Making the most of the symbolic importance of the date, the project can be seen from 18 May, International Museums Day, and will be on display for three years.

As partners in this campaign, Vanguard Properties has Fundação Millennium BCP, CIN and newspaper Público, whose representatives were at the MNAC premises with the Director of the Museum, Emília Ferreira, to mark the start of the works.
