Vanguard Properties and Brave Generation set up innovative school at Comporta

The real estate developer Vanguard Properties and Brave Generation Academy (BGA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a school hub in the Comporta area.

Designed for the Muda development - and, in a second period, for the ‘Dunas’ and ‘Terras da Comporta’ project - located in the borough of Grândola, the BGA school hub represents an investment of over a million euros and will expand the range of educational services available in the Comporta region from 2014, with a differentiated system of education and of an international nature, integrated in the network of BGA education establishments in Portugal and other countries.

The BGA school hub is a strategic investment to fulfil a vision that Vanguard Properties has for the region, focused on economic and social development and improving quality of life through a wide range of services with the capacity to mitigate high seasonality, rooting residents in the Terras da Comporta developments and in the nearby municipalities, with 30% of vacancies totally free and awarded as grants for students in the region with the greatest economic difficulties.

Characterised by an education system centred on the profile and specific needs of each pupil, the BGA uses the British International Curriculum which opens doors to the most prestigious universities in the world such as Harvard University or Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Studying in a multicultural environment, the pupils will benefit from the total flexibility to choose the modules that are of greater interest to them, increasing creativity and a sense of responsibility of each.   The classes, in English, will be delivered both on-line and face-to-face, and assisted by two learning coaches.

Founded in 2019 by the Portuguese entrepreneur Tim Vieira, the BGA is developing an international network of school hubs. Begun in Cascais, where there are already seven hubs, the BGA expanded to Porto, Braga, Coimbra, Leiria, Aveiro, Caldas da Rainha, Óbidos, Santarém, Ericeira and Algarve, and has already expanded to Spain, the United States, Mozambique, Kenya, South Africa, and Namibia. In this way BGA accommodates pedagogical training and development of pupils since they can attend classes in the hubs according to their needs.

For José Cardoso Botelho, CEO of Vanguard Properties, “BGA is the right partner for us to develop a school that will be an asset to making Terras da Comporta an international case study.   We really believe in the potential of Comporta, and we intend to encourage the economic and social development of the region, which means infrastructures and services that increase the quality of life of everyone and contribute to rooting residents.”

BGA founder Tim Vieira says “I am happy to understand that companies, like Vanguard Properties are sensible to education and its importance in preparing future generations. This partnership with BGA is recognition of an international curriculum educational model that can prepare young people for a future by using a hybrid model (on-line and off-line) and meets the need of the younger generations, offering them the opportunity to get a quality education, one recognised by the best universities in the world.  We are aware that this partnership and the link to low-density land areas paves the way for investment, enriches local populations and consequently the country.”
