Real Estate Developer - Purpose
Vanguard’s main aim is to exceed the expectations of the various stakeholders by undertaking inspiring projects that leave a positive mark on the places and communities in which they are built.
In under 3 years the company has become the main Portuguese real estate developer with a portfolio of urban and tourist assets divided between Lisbon, Oeiras, the Algarve and Comporta, covering a total above ground GBA (Gross Building Area) of 888,000m2 in a total investment of over €945 million.
Of the various projects underway, the first to be completed is Castilho 203 on the Lisbon street of the same name. The former high office building has been restored and renovated thanks to an innovative and intelligent engineering system in accordance with a project from the architects studio ARX Portugal Arquitectos and is already a landmark in the Portuguese capital which can be considered to epitomise the Vanguard Properties’ philosophy.
It has a central location with good road access and uninterrupted views, spacious areas and contemporary architecture of unquestionable quality. The project draws on natural light and the surrounding area. Featuring a number of amenities and facilities, some of them a first in residential projects in Portugal such as a spa and screening room which shows Vanguard Properties’ position in the Portuguese real estate market.
A site specific work of art created by José Pedro Croft, one of today’s most renown Portuguese plastic artists has been incorporated into the shared areas of Castilho 203 shows the company’s desire to place works of art in all of its development projects: a commitment which is a way of bringing value to the investments made by buyers, enriching their living experiences while at the same time supporting Portuguese contemporary art.
This decision regarding the arts, which in addition to this includes other initiatives, is part of a much wider policy of sponsorships and social responsibility which reflects the way the Vanguard Property founders see their role in the community.
This policy was implemented with a firm commitment from the start and on a scale never seen before in this sector. The policy is centred around areas that range from soft philanthropy to sponsoring high profile sports events like the Millennium Estoril Open or Challenger Lisboa Belém Open. Supporting education, Vanguard Properties is the patron founder in Portugal of École 42 (School 42) which is considered the best programming school in the world. It also created Vanguard Stars, an international tennis programme dedicated to junior tennis talent and now in its third edition, is already a great success.
Also, as part of the same goal of contributing towards a healthy lifestyle, greater environmental awareness, and an understanding of the importance of improving the quality of life of the communities in which it develops its activities, shortly after having acquired two important real estate assets from the Herdade da Comporta Fund with Amorim Luxury, Vanguard Properties proved yet again its commitment to the values that it holds dear by creating the Comporta Future Association (Associação Comporta Futuro). The objective of this association is to implement an integrated strategy of incentives to participational citizenship from an environmental and cultural standpoint.
